Pedestrian itineraries
Today, the network of signposted itineraries has considerably developed, both at the level of local itineraries and at the level of long GR and GTA itineraries.
The access to 605 km of GTA signposted itineraries in the Province of Belgian Luxembourg, conceived with the respect of the environment to practice hiking, was only made possible thanks to partnerships with the Division of Nature and Forests, the local authorities, the tourist organizations.

The level of difficulty
For each itinerary, the distance in km is indicated in the caption or in the guidebook. This allows you to estimate the walking time taking into consideration a half hour stop at noon. Walking time is generally calculated on a base of 3 to 4 km/hour.
The contour lines shown on the IGN maps indicate the difficulties to expect on the way. The path fluctuates over hills and dips both in the forest and countryside.
Some basic criteria for the ramblers
- Choose a level of difficulty adapted to all; laps of 5 to 27 km per day for walking tours.
- Give priority to paths and non-tarmac country lanes.
- Recommend quality accommodation, accredited by the Commissariat General au Tourisme, where ramblers are welcome.
- Value authenticity and local produce.
- Create a family ambience during the hike and offer the possibility of discovering the local cultural and historical riches.
- Allow all ramblers to follow a GTA itinerary on foot, bicycle, MTB or horseback.
- Use the published materials of the creators of local itineraries or long itineraries, and their maps.
