Program

D 1 : arrival in Palermo
Individual arrival at Palermo airport. Welcome and transfer to Scopello, little farmer village located on the sea, developed in ‘600 around the homonymous “Baglio”. Briefing with presentation of the tour. Clients get road book, practical information and bikes if rented. Accommodation, dinner free and overnight stop in Scopello.

D 2 : Riserva dello Zingaro 6 km
After breakfast trekking in the Natural Park Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro: a nice walk along paths that run on the Tirenian coast of Sicily. This is one of the most preserved areas of the island with a rich Mediterranean bush and nice coves. Dinner free and overnight stop in Scopello.

D 3 : Scopello – Segesta – Buseto Palizzolo 45 km
Starting from Scopello cycle to the archaeological site of Segesta, with its valuable Theatre, that like a shell suspended in the air, looks to the sea! Segesta was a powerful town of Elimi, an ancient people coming from the present Turkey. The town lived periods of splendour under the Greek domination and during the Roman times begun the first Punic war. Dinner free and overnight stop in Buseto Palizzolo

D 4 : Buseto Palizzolo – Trapani 35 km
Today you will cycle in the interior of Sicily through the country side and quite places that can show you the typical scenery of the really Farmer Sicily. Dinner free and overnight stop in Trapani.

D 5 : Favignana 21 km
In front of the cost of Trapani there are the Egadi Islands. The main island is Favignana, 20 km2, and it appear like a big butterfly on the sea. Omero called it “The goat island” in his Odissea and today it is famous for the “Mattanza”, the tipical tunny fishing. Return to Trapani. Dinner free and overnight stop in Trapani.

D 6 : Trapani – island of Mozia – Marsala 40 o 50 km
Today you can relax yourself cycling along the panoramic coastal road and admiring the wind mills of the Saline (Salt mine). You can visit the island of Mozia, ancient stronghold of the Punic age. Today it is an archaeological site and there is settle a private museum of remarkable value. Only few kilometres and you reach Marsala where is possible visit a cellar where is product a special liqueur “Il Marsala all’uovo”. Dinner free and overnight stop in Trapani.

D 7 : Marsala – Cave di Cusa – Selinunte 58 km
The today stage runs on hilly terrains to the archaeological sites of Cave di Cusa and Selinunte. Selinunte was an ancient Greek town founded in VII century B.C., but after 2 centuries of splendour it was completely destruct in 409 B.C.. The today’s archaeological park of 1.300 m preserves ruins of the acropolis and numerous temples.
Dinner free and overnight stop in Selinunte.

D 8: departure
After breakfast end of the tour.

Difficulty

Slightly hilly, day 6 is quite hard (in the variation of 50 Km), hilly on Day 7.
